GOLF IS A SPORT ALL ON YOUR OWN.

The game of golf may be frustrating one day and motivating the next. But no matter who is playing, it’s common for the mood swings to kick in as much as the golf swings do!

Team Wyoming

How do you stay level-headed, composed and motivated? We spoke with one person whose profession it is to teach golf skills that include physical skills as much as mental coping skills.

Rachelle Pearson, Captain of Team Wyoming Girls Junior America's Cup, was kind enough to spend some time and share insight with us.

We asked Rachelle to explain her connection to golf. “I have been the captain for Wyoming for 26 years. I started in Junior Golf when my daughters were 6 and 4 years old. They played in junior events growing up and our youngest daughter played college golf for four years. They are both avid golfers to this day, as well as my husband and me. It truly is a family sport!”

We also wanted to know why she thinks golf is important to young women? Rachelle explained, “Golf is so important for young women as it is a sport all on your own. It is you against the course and therefore, there can be no excuses or blaming teammates etc.

Golf builds character, integrity, teaches you how to compete under pressure and is great exercise.”

Rachelle also gave advice for any young athlete who is considering joining a team, such as golf. “When you go on a visit, watch how the girls on the team interact with each other and with their coach. If you have any reservations, move on as there are lots of teams that would love to have you.

Remember when a coach is following you, they are watching how you act when you are playing well, as well when you are playing badly. Hold your head high as no one is perfect in life and certainly not on the course. The sun will come up tomorrow!”

We could not help but feel instantly inspired by Rachelle’s message!

Last but not least, we felt compelled to ask about Rachelle’s opinion of TJ Sport, specifically if there is a favorite piece from our collection and what she loves about it? We are blushing at her response: “Oh, where do I start!? I love the shorts in the bright red with the red sleeveless shirt. It is very hard to find a nice golf short with a zipper and belt loops, not pull on, so I was thrilled when TJ Sport came out with them.

My team also loved the sun shirts! As far as men's attire, TJ Sport is now my son-in-law's favorite brand. He can't say enough good things about the quarter zips, polos and the joggers!”

We appreciate all that Coach Pearson does to support, lead and promote golf to young female golfers. And having her as a loyal customer feels like we hit a hole-in-one!
